This is a respectable volume with good information. Lots of tables and some brief summaries of dissimilar ACM 1v1 combat. However, like any other comparison effort....without performance charts that allow you to plot HP/Altitude/Blower settings,etc.you will not get a apples to apples comparison. In a similar vein, Mr. Pilawskii acknowledges the pit-falls of testing during the era with an interesting bit on testing the Mustang that should open a few eyes.Use of the data will reveal the changes in terms of weight, HP, Wf, turn rates etc. The interested reader can thus see how the changes made to maintain combat worthiness forced other compromises within the performance envelope. SFC would have been fun to see, but...the author would have had a full time job to find it for each engine.
Mr. Pilawskii is to be congratulated on a fine effort.
